Age and Supervision
All our coaches are DBS checked and a copy of our policy can be made available on request. Children under 14 must be supervised with a recommended 1 adult to 3 children ratio. The host parents must provide this number of adults to supervise the children in order for HCA coaches/members to focus on the archery. Adult groups wishing to hold a party will have one HCA Coach/experienced archer per 4 adults.
Dates
We will ask you for 3 dates/times with your preferred date/time. Subject to these not clashing with club days/events we will do our best to accommodate you. We will need at least 6 weeks’ notice of your event so that we can minute it at a Committee Meeting (for insurance purposes).
Catering
We have a BBQ which you can hire for a fee of £10. You must bring your own charcoal and food which you cook yourselves. HCA will not be responsible for any catering arrangements.
Safety
Safety is our prime concern. Strict safety rules must be observed.
Archery is a safe sport. It’s safe because we have very strict safety rules. The first 10 minutes of your archery party is a safety briefing to inform you about these rules.
A clear signal will be given by a Field Captain to indicate it is safe to shoot. A second signal will be given to indicate that it is safe to collect arrows.
All archers must obey the Field Captain. Failure to do so could endanger someone else and will mean you are asked to leave the shooting line.
You will be fully briefed on the use of your equipment, fire exits, availability of first aid etc.
Clothing
Please wear shoes or boots (trainers are OK). No open-toed footwear. Avoid wearing baggy sleeves and tops – they can catch on bowstrings. For the same reason, if you have long hair, bring something to tie it back with. If you have a piercing that might catch a bowstring, you’ll need cover it up or remove it for the session.
Equipment
We will provide you with all equipment, including lightweight beginner bows. Shooting will be on a one to one basis with a coach or experienced archer. Targets will typically be 10 yards from the shooting line.
